The event was organised by Shaeqee Ne Fun, a leading socio-cultural organisation of Pakistani expatriates, in connection with the Pakistan National Day celebrations.
Ambassador Mohamed Sarfaraz Ahmed Khanzada presided.
The embassy’s head of Chancery, Malik M Farooq, counsellor Mohamed Afzal Shaikh and community welfare attache Dr Syed Mansoor Abbas Rizvi were present.Shaeqee Ne Fun president Shaukat Ali Naz compered the programme.
Chairman Mohamed Atiq said the event was unique because the poets recited their poetry in the provincial languages of Pakistan, besides Urdu.
Ambassador Khanzada appreciated the efforts of the forum’s officials in organising the event, attended by a large number of community members along with their families.
He noted that poets were an important part of the society whose works play a critical role in national awakening.
The poets who recited their works in Pashto, Baluchi, Punjabi, Sindhi and Urdu were Mohamed Mumtaz Rashid, Ummat Hassan Bangash, Fartash Syed, Mohamed Shafiq Akhter, Firoz Khan Afridi, Shaukat Ali Naz, Abdul Latif Dilawari, Manzar Zaidi, Bakhtiar Shakir, Syed Fahimuddin, Farzana Safdar, Ijaz Haider, Niaz Ahmed Mohmand, Qaiser Masood, Laiq Aseer, Raza Hussain, Liaqat Ali Qurban and Syed Zawwar Hussain Zair.
Fahimuddin also conducted the mushaira proceedings. Some poets also entertained the audience with their humorous poetry in Urdu and Punjabi.
