Ten passenger airlines will move to the new Hamad International Airport (HIA) from April 1 to mark its soft launch of operations.
These carriers are: Air Arabia, Air India Express, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, flydubai, Iran Air, Nepal Airlines, Pakistan International Airlines, RAK Airways, Syrian Air and Yemen Airways.
Qatar Airways’ flights will not be affected now as the national airline will move its entire operations from the current Doha International Airport (DIA) to HIA only by the end of the year.
With this, the 10 airlines mentioned above will no longer have a presence at the DIA and will operate exclusively from the HIA from April 1. There will be 32 passenger flights departing daily and more than 220 weekly from the HIA.
Concourse B at the HIA will be fully operational on April 1 for passengers travelling with these 10 airlines. Passengers will enter the passenger terminal complex from the eastern entrance and go directly to the check-in counters. After check-in, immigration and security, passengers will be directed to concourse B.
At the HIA, passengers will be boarding and exiting aircraft via an airbridge connected to the terminal. Along with the opening of concourse B on April 1, the eastern runway - the longer of the two runways at the HIA - and the uniquely-designed, crescent-shaped air traffic control tower will also be in operation.
Parking will be available on the eastern side of the short-term car park in front of the passenger terminal complex. From the car park, passengers will be able to enter the terminal complex through the eastern link bridge.
There will be taxis available to and from the HIA as well as a limousine service from April 1. The taxi and limousine pick-up points are located on the arrival floor – the former on the left side while exiting the terminal and the latter on the right.
There will be a pick-up point for private cars across the road from the arrival section. For transport between airports, arriving and departing passengers will be able to use the shuttle bus service between the HIA and the DIA from April 1.
