The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has interviewed Qatari candidates shortlisted during the recent Qatar Career Fair to fill vacancies in vital departments.

The interviews were part of a recruitment drive held between April 24 and 28.

Based on preliminary screenings, the shortlisted candidates were placed under three major categories matching with their qualifications, experience and requirements, according to a statement from the corporation.

Also 65 aspirants for scholarships were interviewed on the first day by the selection panel of experts. The second day focused on the interviews of 31 job aspirants holding secondary or diploma educations. Applicants with Bachelors or Masters degrees were interviewed yesterday by a panel consisting of experts across the departments. The total strength of this category is 75.

Kahramaa invited applications from the nationals for 80 positions at its various departments and offered 30 scholarships for educational programmes at QCF 2013.

The employment opportunities include technical, administrative, finance and business development-related positions. A large number of job-seekers had shown their interest in the field of engineering, the statement said.

The employment open day comes within Kahramaa’s Qatarisation programme. The corporation said it believed in investing in human resources in line with the goals and objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Qatar National Development Strategy 2011-2016.

The QNV seeks to promote Qatarisation in a bid “maximise the employment of capable Qatari nationals, and develop them achieve a successful career path.”

Hilal office to remain open until 8pm

The main customers service centre of the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) in Al Hilal area has extended its working hours by one hour. Now the utility payments and other counters will remain open until 8pm according to a statement from the corporation. Until now the main customers’ service centre used to work until 7pm. The new timings will enable customers to pay their utility bills any time between 6.30am and 8pm from Sundays to Thursdays.
