Doha Sooq, the e-commerce portal powered by Doha Bank, has announced a new extension of its partnership with EMKE Group’s LuLu Hypermarket to bring the shopping experience online via DohaSooq.com.

As part of the initial rollout of the service, anyone in Qatar or abroad can purchase gift cards in denominations of QR50, QR100 and QR500 with a simple click.

LuLu gift vouchers have no expiry and can be redeemed for groceries, cosmetics, electronics, home appliances, mobiles, clothes, footwear and toys at LuLu Hypermarket on D-Ring Road, Al Gharaffa, Al Khor, LuLu Centre in Al Saad, and LuLu Express in Al Rayyan.

Currently, customers can also buy Apple products, including iPhone, iPad, and iPad mini devices, from the LuLu Hypermarket e-store.

All products purchased from the LuLu e-store come with the same applicable warranties as physical purchases from LuLu Hypermarket.

Speaking at the launch of the service, Doha Bank Group chief executive Dr R Seetharaman said: “DohaSooq.com integrates e-commerce fundamentals with leading retail operators such as LuLu to help deliver professional online payments technology, underpinned by the banking experience and track record of Doha Bank.

“With the establishment of LuLu’s online store, DohaSooq.com takes another major step forward in affirming its position as the premier e-commerce destination in Qatar.”

Doha Bank’s head of retail banking Suresh Bajpai said: “Significant efforts have been made to ensure quality of services, transaction integrity and, of course, the great value-for-money online consumers can expect, particularly if they hold Doha Bank LuLu shopping cards.”

“In addition to the convenience of shopping round the clock from anywhere, as DohaSooq.com is powered by Doha Bank, customers of the Doha Bank LuLu Shopping Credit Card can avail of the customary 5% savings applicable on their purchases while using the LuLu Shopping Credit Card, just as they would while shopping at any LuLu store in Qatar,” he added.

Mohamed Althaf, regional director of LuLu Hypermarket, said: “It is an exciting opportunity for LuLu to be able to give our customers the option of shopping from the convenience of their home or office.”

Customers seeking to shop for items such as electronics, apparels and toys will be able to utilise the LuLu e-store when a broader range of purchase options are expected to roll out after the initial phase of implementation and preliminary live testing of all quality systems.

Dohasooq.com already lists a wide variety of products – from electronics to entertainment systems as well as travel and recreation options – with hundreds of purchase options available to site visitors at any time from leading retailers in Qatar.
