PICTURE: Othman al-SamarraeeBy Bonnie James/Deputy News EditorFollowing the success of the 84-inch 4K Bravia LED TV that saw Qatar among the top three countries in making Middle East the largest market outside of Japan for the high-end product, Sony and Darwish Holding’s Fifty One East have launched the 65-inch and 55-inch versions.Featuring ultra high definition resolution of 3,840x2,160, which is four times that of full HD (1920x1080), the series boasts ‘the most immersive home entertainment experience, with the highest picture quality regardless of the content or source’.The new 65-inch and 55-inch 4K TVs will be available from June 26 at Fifty One East’s outlets located in Lagoona Mall, Al Maha Centre, and City Center Doha, in addition to Virgin Megastores.Pointing out that Darwish Holding has been distributing Sony products for more than 50 years in Qatar, chairman Bader Abdullah al-Darwish stated that the new 4K Bravia ‘goes in line with our ongoing commitment to provide the Qatari people and the community with only the very finest and highest quality audio video entertainment products.’“Qatar, which has the highest Sony market share in the Middle East and Africa region and highest sales of Sony premium products, was one of the few chosen countries in the region to launch the 84-inch 4K TV last October and now we are following it up with an expansion of the line-up,” he explained.Sony Middle East and Africa managing director Hiroyasu Sugiyama observed that with ‘very unique technologies Sony 4K television could deliver breathtaking colour, incredible resolution and unbelievable picture quality.’“Many of our competitors have tried to introduce a similar product, but no one can come close to the Sony 4K picture quality,” he claimed while explaining that the two new additions are meant to extend ‘the joy of owning the amazing Sony 4K experience to a much wider customer base.’Sony Middle East and Africa marketing department manager Yukinobu Tsuda said plenty of 4K content is available as the new TVs can upscale all full HD 2D and 3D content. “No one else can match the very unique upscaling capability of Sony,” he claimed.The new 4K Bravia TV incorporates ‘4K X-Reality Pro,’ Sony’s proprietary super-resolution engine, capable of reproducing any content with different resolutions – such as movies, internet content, photographs and games – into ‘stunningly crisp high-quality images with 4K resolution.At a demonstration at the launch event, it was nearly impossible to distinguish between actual 4K content and 2K content upscaled to 4K, displayed on two of the new 65-inch TVs, kept side by side.Sony new and unique Triluminous Display offers ‘an even wider palette of rich, ultra-real colours, including hard-to-reproduce reds and emerald greens.’ By integrating QD Vision’s ‘Colour IQ,’ an advanced light emitting semiconductor technology, with Sony’s unique display technologies, the Bravia X series achieves ‘a significantly wider colour gamut.’The 4K TVs offer a better sound experience by way of a signal-to-sound architecture, incorporating Sony’s own magnetic fluid speakers and unique digital signal processing technology.The Bravia X series are also Wi-Fi enabled and offer a wide range of internet connected services, including Sony’s smart connect solutions, enabling cross-device connectivity between mobile devices and the TVs.One-touch mirroring provides greater control and additional content options by interconnecting media sources across the home and mobile entertainment ecosystem.And the options are ...Fifty One East will introduce special packages in connection with the launch of the new 4K 65-inch and 55-inch Bravia LED TVs.Option one: Sony Tablet Experience or Photo Experience, each priced QR29,999, and Game Experience, at QR19,999.The Tablet Experience bundle includes 65-inch 4K TV, Xperia Z Tablet and one touch remote. The Photo Experience package comes with a 65-inch 4K TV, NEX-5RL camera, and photo training. The Game Experience (QR19,999) includes a 55-inch TV, PS3 and a game title.Option two: Priced QR32,999, comes with 65-inch 4K TV, Xperia Z Tablet, NEX-5RL camera, PS3, one touch remote, photo training, and game title.
