M I Mathew, 50, who was an English teacher at the school for 13 years, was promoted as the administration and human resources manager in 2010.
Mathew (pictured) had also served as the editor of the school’s magazine for several years.
The accident occurred at Koratty in Kerala’s Thrissur district.
He was hit by a vehicle as he opened the door of his car after stopping at a roadside shop to buy flower pots for his newly-built house.
Mathew and his family had moved into the house only a few days ago. He was a native of Chalakudy in the same district.
He leaves behind his wife Jaymol Mathew, a former teacher of MES Indian School, and daughter Jugnu and son Joseph.
At a meeting held at the school yesterday, the governing body members and staff expressed condolences and described as a “very active” employee.
“Mathew was an invaluable asset to our institution and he had a long-standing relationship with the school. His death has created a void that cannot be filled,” said the school in a condolence message.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss and mourn his death along with his family and friends.”
