Vodafone Qatar has launched the country’s first smart recharge cards, which are embedded with a QR Code that is considered the latest technology in barcoding. The new recharge cards offer customers an easier solution to load their cards and overcome the common issues they face with the scratch option, Vodafone said.
Vodafone Qatar recharge cards will have the PIN as well as a QR Code format of the PIN printed on the cards and hidden underneath a protective layer. A customer with access to a QR Code reader through any smartphone will be able to scan the QR Code on their card to retrieve the PIN. Vodafone Qatar director (External Affairs) Mohamed al-Yami said, “The QR Code is an advanced way to implement a new technology as well as an effective method to reduce the issues over the scratch card.” Vodafone Qatar is launching the QR codes with the Mobile Internet monthly pack 50 cards.
