“A Passage to India”, a cultural festival showcasing the South Asian country’s rich diversity and achievements in various fields since independence, will be held at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park on November 28 and 29.The event is being organised under the aegis of Indian Cultural Centre (ICC). It will be held between 2pm and 10 pm on both days. Informing this yesterday, the organisers said the event would help strengthen the historically-strong ties between India and Qatar and expected to foster goodwill and friendship among diverse expatriate communities present in Qatar.The festival will feature, among others, a host of cultural programmes that will include music and folk dances from different regions of India. Indian arts, handicrafts and cuisines are among the other attractions.The organisers also plan a daylong quiz programme for children aged up to 12 years. It will have questions from Indian history, culture and traditions of both India and Qatar.Organisations and institutions such as Qatar Football Association, Qatar Museums Authority, Ministry of Interior, Indian Business Promotion Network and Indian Community Benevolent Forum will participate.Arrangements are being made to accommodate about 10,000 visitors on both days. The ICC will operate shuttle services on an hourly basis from different places to the venue.Besides ICC president Tarun Basu, vice-president Girish Kumar, general secretary Seenu Pillai and joint secretary Manta Uma Srinivas were among those who spoke at the meeting yesterday.
