Foundation seeks applications
for grant

The newly-launched Awesome Foundation Doha chapter has made its first call for project proposals that support society and benefit local communities in Qatar. Catalysed for entry into key GCC markets by the UAE’s Arab Youth Venture Foundation (AYVF), the Awesome Foundation (AF) is a worldwide network of young philanthropists devoted to supporting dynamic endeavours at a local level that provide social betterment. As one of 85 AF chapters across 18 nations, Awesome Doha provides goodwill-oriented micro-grant recipients with no-strings-attached funding to see their dream project become a reality and claims no ownership over the projects it supports. In a statement, Awesome Doha has said that it believes in the concept of transforming communities through “small yet mighty” micro-grants of QR5,000 every month. Lisa LaBonte, dean of the Awesome Foundation Doha chapter and CEO of AYVF, said: “Micro-grants have the unique ability to foster greater community involvement among residents regardless of nationality to deliver far-reaching, high-impact projects in their home and/or host country.” Deadline for the first Awesome Doha micro-grant is November 18 with a winner selected and funded by the 10 Awesome Doha trustees by the month-end.
