The latest wearable Sony Action Cam HDR-AS30V, which enables adventurers to shoot blur-free Full HD MP4 video and 11.9 megapixel still photos and share them via Wi-Fi with a smartphone, has been launched in Qatar by Fifty One East.
Sony Action Cam HDR-AS30V is packed with new features including GPS, near field communication (NFC) live-view remote, and a slim waterproof housing enabling it to shoot any adventure ranging from sandy bike treks to dune-bashing and snorkelling.
“The launch of Sony’s Action Cam HDR-AS30V, infers our commitment towards providing the Qatari market with products that are very unique and exceptional,” said Elie Chaftari, brand manager, Sony, consumer electronics division I, Darwish Technology.
“Action Cam HDR-AS30V is the perfect action companion,” explained Bibin John Thomas, assistant manager, digital products marketing department, Sony Middle East and Africa, during a presentation yesterday.
The new waterproof housing has a slim design that cuts through wind and water when sky diving or during a high-speed downhill run. With a huge 170° field of view (120° with SteadyShot on), the wide-angle Carl Zeiss Tessar lens takes in panoramic landscapes, dramatic ski slopes and more.
The back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor grabs more light, even on the dullest days. Whether riding over lumpy sand dunes or quad-biking, SteadyShot helps keep footage judder-free and easy to watch.
There is a choice of recording modes, including super-smooth Full HD 60p/50p for fast-moving action and two slow-motion modes for tracking golf swing or BMX stunt.
It can shoot images upside-down - useful in situations where the camera is attached in a reverse position.
After shooting, the Action Cam can be connected with a smartphone via Wi-Fi to transfer and share shots instantly with Sony’s free PlayMemories Mobile app. With NFC one-touch connection support, a quick connection can be made to Sony’s Xperia phones, tablets and other compatible Android devices, allowing remote control of the Action Cam.
The Wi-Fi also links the Action Cam with the optional RM-LVR1 Live-View Remote, allowing ‘hands-off’ operation.
Using the remote, the user can check on the remote’s colour LCD if shots are framed nicely, and also control start/stop recording and select photo/movie modes and other convenient operations. Big buttons make operation simple.
The Map View tracks movements, using GPS data captured with Action Cam to display a trail of the adventurer’s progress. Multi View reads speed information recorded by GPS, creating a speedometer-style video overlay.
Two-Screen Multi View combines video files captured simultaneously with two different cameras, creating a split-screen composite that combines the user’s own point-of-view with that of a companion.
The Action Cam HDR-AS30V is available in a QR1,599 bundle offer, which includes a 5m waterproof housing, 16GB Micro SD card, tilt adaptor, waterproof headband and wrist mount strap, and adhesive mounts.
