Aircraft carrier the INS Vikramaditya (second left) arrives in the Indian Navy’s area of operation alongside ships from India’s western fleet in the Arabian Sea. The long-delayed INS Vikramaditya, acquired from Russia at a cost of $2.3bn, is being escorted to a naval base at Kawar on the western coast. At 284m long and 60m high, and weighing 40,000 tonnes, Vikramaditya will be the largest and heaviest operated by the Indian Navy.
