By Ayman Adly /Staff ReporterKaharamaa (Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation)  inspectors should be vested with  judicial powers to enter residential units to stop the practice of wasting water and electricity, the Central Municipal Council (CMC) recommended yesterday. The council suggested Kahramaa should raise this issue and refer it to the legislative entities in the country to adopt necessary procedures. “Further, metre-readers should be given advanced training to detect and report any wastage of water and electricity, particularly due to leaks or bad connections. Also, a guidebook should be issued by Kahramaa in co-operation with related departments, detailing the need to use high quality electrical appliances and sanitary ware. This move can be implemented when issuing building licences.”The council also stressed the need to instal  sensor taps to rationalise water use. At its bi-weekly regular session yesterday, the council issued recommendations on the safety procedures that should be followed in building demolition, such as avoiding the use of LPG cylinders or electric appliances to cut iron bars at the sites.  Page 4
