The company operating the cinema hall at the West End Park near the Industrial Area is planning to open a second cinema at the facility later this week.
This follows the overwhelming response from film viewers to the first cinema hall which was opened in December last year.
The cinema operators yesterday said that the lone hall of the four-screen complex is attracting “full house” on Thursdays and Fridays. On Saturdays also the response is good.
“When we opened the cinema hall our expectations were that families’ patronage would be very limited and that too only on Fridays. However, this Thursday and Friday more than 40% were family audiences,” said the manager of the company operating the cinema.
Currently there are four daily shows – at 2pm, 5, 8.30 and 11.30pm. Some buses are operated to the complex now-a-days.
The company official said the 500-seater second hall will screen “international” (meaning English) movies. All four halls would be screening films by the end of next month.
