Qatar is committed to the South-South development expo as a main hub of strengthening regional ties with the Southern-hemisphere countries, HE the Foreign Minister Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah said yesterday. |
This came in an address the Minister delivered yesterday on the occasion of Qatar hosting of the Arab States Regional South-South Development Expo.
In his address written in the Expo’s booklet, the Foreign Minister said that Qatar was reflecting its keenness on strengthening ties by holding the expo. The Foreign Minister added that the United Nation’s developmental programme was another channel that Qatar relies on to strengthen ties.
Al-Attiyah further said that exchanging expertise between the Southern countries will benefit developed countries as well as the developing countries, particularly in multi-party initiatives related to investment and diplomacy.
The Foreign Minister noted that the State of Qatar also hosted the High Level Meeting on Oil and Gas in a bid to maintain the strong regional and international co-operation. The meeting hosted high-ranking officials from 42 countries. He added that the meeting helped boost the exchange of expertise and co-operation between the participating countries.
