Mowasalat has received the ISO 14001 and OHSAS 180001 certifications from the British Standards Institute (BSI).

The certification, according to a statement issued yesterday, is in recognition of the company’s efforts in the last five years to support and implement in its operations the environment, safety and occupation health standards stipulated by the local governmental bodies.

The ISO 14001 certification recognises that Mowasalat has established and maintained sustaining environmental management systems, while the OHSAS 18001 is an international occupational health and safety management system standard that requires Mowasalat to establish and maintain standards that control health and safety risks.

The British Standards Institution Group Middle East general manager (Qatar) Omar Rashid said Mowasalat’s achievement manifests the company’s continuous efforts to upgrade its services and standards and also demonstrates the keenness and commitment to implement best practices in its operations.

Rashid also complimented the entire project team, senior management and all staff members of Mowasalat who were involved in the implementation of the project.

Mowasalat CEO Khalid al-Hail said: “We are very proud to have achieved the challenging certification. It has taken significant efforts to work through the process of compliance and qualification.”

The certification, he said, is the proof of Mowasalat’s compliance and commitment and reflects the responsibility that the company management has always taken to ensure that it looked after the employees and customers well even while it did whatever possible to improve its business operations.

Mowasalat executive director (strategy services) Nasser al-Khanji hailed the company’s achievement. “The determination of our team members and unconditional support from the management have helped Mowasalat achieve the major milestone which is significant for the company’s future business endeavours,” he said.

Mowasalat health and safety manager Salah Saeed Abdalmogith also hailed the achievement.
