Liberian president visits Museum of Islamic Art

Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf being seen off at Doha International Airport by HE the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Abdullah Saleh Mubarak al-Khulaifi, Qatar’s Ambassador to Liberia Mohamed Ismail al-Emadi and Ambassador of Liberia to Qatar Ibrahim K Naye.QNA/DohaPresident Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia and her accompanying delegation yesterday visited the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA).During the tour, President Ellen Johnson was briefed on the contents of the MIA which include manuscripts, artefacts and precious stones which have been collected from the three continents and other Middle Eastern states and countries such as Spain and India. The museum’s contents reflect the period extending from the 7th and the 20th Centuries.  Following the tour, the Liberian president signed the honorary record of the MIA highlighting the contents of the MIA describing these collections as a wealth to the Islamic culture and heritage. Mansour bin Ibrahim al-Mahmoud, the adviser to chairperson of the Board of Trustees and Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Museums Authority, presented the Liberian president with a copy of the book explaining the museum landmarks and its design features and contents. During the tour, the Liberian president was escorted by HE Dr Abdullah Saleh Mubarak al-Khulaifi, the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Mohamed Ismail al-Emadi and Ambassador of Liberia to Qatar Ibrahim K Naye.Later in the evening Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and her accompanying delegation left Doha.  President Ellen Johnson and the accompanying delegation were seen off at Doha International Airport by HE the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Abdullah Saleh Mubarak al-Khulaifi, Qatar’s Ambassador to Liberia Mohamed Ismail al-Emadi and Ambassador of Liberia to Qatar Ibrahim K Naye.
