300 more taxis to hit the roads

Ibn Ajayan Company, which has signed a franchisee deal with Mowasalat, will  introduce 300 taxis in the first phase, it was announced yesterday.  Mowasalat Transport Company, the proprietor of  the Karwa taxi brand in Qatar, plans to take the total number of taxis to 4,000 by the end of this year. As part of the deal, Ibn Ajayan Company will be operating 500 new Karwa taxis in the country. According to an earlier report, Ibn Ajayan is scheduled to start taxi operations in August-September.

QTA gears up for summer fest

Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) is readying for “big and exciting” plans for summer 2014. Building on the success of the 2013 Eid festivals, QTA is planning to introduce a summer festival this year along with its annual Eid festival. The festivities, which are due to begin in the next few weeks, will comprise almost two months and a half of celebrations and events, spanning across the summer, and the two Eids. Over this period, Qatar will host one of the largest cultural, artistic, and entertainment programmes in the Gulf region.
