Portland State University (PSU) in the US has awarded an honorary PhD degree in humanities to former minister of justice HE Hassan bin Abdullah al-Ghanrm, an alumnus who received a bachelor of arts in political science in the early eighties.

The move was a gesture of PSU’s recognition of the former minister’s role and efforts in humanities and political science, particularly his role in the establishment of the PSU GCC Alumni Association.

The university highlighted his service at the foreign ministry and the ministry of justice and published a profile on his life, undergraduate study as one of the first batch of Qatari students abroad as well as his career and contributions in the academic and professional spheres.

On the occasion, PSU president Wim Wiewel held a dinner banquet in honour of the former minister in the presence of Qatar’s ambassador to the US Mohamed Jaham al-Kuwari and a group of university officials.
