Ramadan begins tomorrow in Qatar

The Crescent Moon Sighting Committee of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs yesterday announced  that tomorrow  would be the first day  of the holy month of Ramadan for 1435 Hijra.

The committee said today would be the final day of the lunar month of Sha’baan.

A number of Arab countries also announced  yesterday that tomorrow  would  be the first day of  the holy month of Ramadan.

Countries which made the announcement were Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, the UAE, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Sudan, Algeria and Iraq.

Yemen announced that today would be the first fasting day.

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al -Thani yesterday received a telephone call from President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi of the Republic of Yemen. During the call, HH the Emir and the Yemeni president exchanged congratulations on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, meanwhile, has called on all citizens, residents, societies and institutions in Qatar to comply fully with laws, regulations and norms so that mosques in Qatar and their surroundings would be a civilisational model.

In a statement it issued on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, the ministry called for refraining from the collection of donations at mosques without obtaining its permission.
