QC was the first charity to deliver aid to the affected people of the Gaza Strip.

Qatar Charity (QC) has provided QR20mn for the emergency aid and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

The sum has been collected through donations from philanthropists in Qatar, locals and expatriates, as a quick response to a QC call for supporting the people of Gaza, who have been hit by the recent bombing.

“Philanthropists in Qatar responded to Qatar Charity’s call and we really appreciate this as people in Gaza are in need of urgent support. Their houses have to be rebuilt and they also need urgent food and medical supplies. Such donations will contribute greatly in easing their suffering,” said Yusuf bin Ahmed al-Kuwari, chief executive officer, QC.

Statistics from the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network indicate that 570 houses had been damaged in the Gaza Strip until Friday, some 120 of which were completely destroyed.

Last week, QC started delivering its first batch of aid, distributing food packages among families whose houses had been destroyed. This benefited around 200 families.

The packages, which contained basic food items such as cheese, beans, dates, olive oil, tea and sugar, were distributed by the QC local office in Gaza.

A number of beneficiaries lauded the initiative of QC as the first charity to offer them speedy and urgent aid.
