Emir to leave on official visit to UK tomorrow

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani will embark on a three-day official visit to the United Kingdom tomorrow.

During the visit, which will last till October 30, the Emir will meet Queen Elizabeth of the United Kingdom. On Wednesday,  he will hold talks with Prime Minister David Cameron and ranking officials on enhancing bilateral relations between Qatar and the United Kingdom, in addition to a reviewing matters of mutual concern.

An official delegation will accompany the Emir during the visit.

 

Emir receives credentials of new ambassadors

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani received the credentials of five new ambassadors to Qatar yesterday. The Emir received the credentials of the ambassadors of Vietnam,  Belgium, Paraguay, Bosnia, and Slovenia - Nguyen Hoang, Christophe Payot, Engle Raymond Parchine, Tariq Sadovic and Tatjana Miskova, respectively. The  ambassadors conveyed to the Emir the greetings of their countries’ leaders and their wishes of further progress and prosperity to the Qatari people. The Emir welcomed the new ambassadors and wished them success in their missions and the relations between Qatar and their countries further development and prosperity. Earlier on arrival at the Emiri Diwan, an official reception ceremony was accorded to the new ambassadors.

 

National Day greetings sent

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani yesterday sent cables of congratulations to Austrian President Heinz Fischer on his country’s National Day.

 

Qatar-China ties reviewed

HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad Abdul Aziz al-Kuwari met the visiting Deputy Chinese Minister of Culture Ding Wei and his accompanying delegation.

They reviewed cultural relations between the two countries.

 

Free medical camp for Sri Lankan expatriates

Sri Lanka Majlis - Qatar (SLMQ) will hold a free medical camp, in association with Atlas Polyclinic, for Sri Lankan expatriates in Qatar on October 31.

More than 20 doctors, specialists and medical staff will be available to cater to more than 1,500 Sri Lankans at Atlas Polyclinic - West End Park (Grand Mall building, first floor), from 7am to 3pm.

This is the first time that a free medical camp is being held for Sri Lankans in Qatar, according to the organisers.

Indian embassy Open House

The Indian embassy will hold an Open House on Thursday to address any urgent consular and labour problems of Indian nationals residing in Qatar.

The Open House will be held from 5.30pm to 6.30pm. Written information on issues/cases proposed to be discussed with the embassy has to be submitted from 5.30pm to 6pm. This will be followed by meeting with embassy officials from 6pm to 6.30pm.
