Georgetown launches new responsive design website
Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) has launched a new website that includes advanced search capabilities, improved navigation, and several new features to find information easily and quickly. |
Work on developing the new site began about a year ago with a team led by director of communications, Moamer Qazafi. “ It is our hope that the many tailored changes we made, will meet the diverse needs of the many different audiences who visit our website daily on their phones, tablets and desktops,” said Qazafi.
Improved navigation of the site extends from the newly designed layout and an improved mega menu format that makes more site options available in clear view. Access to information has also been improved by grouping online resources according to specific visitor needs. For instance, students and parents can now find meaningful admissions and campus activity information faster than ever before.
There are new features as well, such as the sophisticated search functionality of the GU-Q research database, with advanced search options by research category, publication type, and year of publication. A newly enhanced and interactive campus life section, plus seamless interface between all GU-Q social media platforms are other features.
Clean, intuitive and interactive graphic functionality not only makes it easier to find information, it also adapts to fit the screen size of all devices, from laptops to tablets to smartphones, through responsive design technology. More online videos, articles, easily searchable news database, and expanded audience specific content, are some of the additions at the website.
The team that worked on the new website design and development included Diana El Bezri, web content manager, Waleed Khan, assistant director for marketing, Nick Mathew, web developer, Bernard Assaf, information security & application manager and Michael McHarg, assistant director for risk and strategy.
