A prominent Qatari entrepreneur has appreciated the services rendered by companies from India in different sectors, especially the IT sector.
Abdul Rahman al-Ansari, who is also the chairman of the Qatar Indian Business Council, hoped more Indian IT firms would set up office in a growing market like Qatar.
Al-Ansari, whose group of companies has long standing business relations with India, was speaking at a reception hosted by Qatar Chamber yesterday in honour of a delegation from India’s Nasscom (National Association of Software and Services Companies).
Nasscom is the industry association for the information technology/business process management sector in India.
Al-Ansari said Indian professionals are “hardworking and real go-getters.”
“Indians at different levels have contributed enormously to this country’s growth over the last five decades,” he said.
Al-Ansari who is also the chairman of the Qatar Exchange-listed Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company, told the visiting delegation that while looking for business plans in this country, they should always stick to deadlines as Qatar is moving at an amazing pace to implement some of its vital projects.
He highlighted the growing importance of IT.
“Did anyone believe some 10-15 years ago that all taxi operations in Qatar would be manned and monitored by IT applications,” he said adding many applications in the transport sector across the world are handled by Indian companies.
Al-Ansari said though many countries have been affected by the falling oil prices, Qatar is going ahead with huge projects.
“In a little over seven years we will have FIFA 2022 World Cup and many other major activities in the run-up to the event,” he said.
In areas such as health, education and sport, there are growing opportunities for IT firms and Indian companies should consider establishing partnerships with local firms to enhance their activities.
Al-Ansari also hailed the contributions by Indian IT firms in the country’s banking and financial services.
He asserted that Qatari officials have enormous confidence in the abilities of the Indian professionals to deliver high quality results, and said he was equally optimistic about the performance of Indian IT companies when they start operations in the country.
