Qatar has welcomed the deal reached on Tuesday in Vienna between Iran and the P5+1 group over Tehran’s nuclear programme.
In a press statement, the Foreign Ministry described the agreement as a significant step, stressing Qatar’s keenness on protecting peace and stability and expressing hope that this agreement would boost them in the region.
Meanwhile, HE the Foreign Minister Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah and GCC foreign ministers on Tuesday received a phone call from US Secretary of State John Kerry.
They reviewed the final agreement on Iran’s nuclear deal and the guarantees that it achieves.
HE Dr al-Attiyah said Qatar welcomes the agreement, stressing the importance of the deal to result in enhancing security and stability in the region and freeing it from weapons of mass destruction.
Emir to receive Eid well-wishers
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani will receive well-wishers on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr at Al Wajbah Palace on the first day of the Eid, the Emiri Diwan announced yesterday.
Immediately after the Eid prayers until 6.30am, the Emir will receive sheikhs, ministers, Advisory Council speaker, undersecretaries, Advisory Council members and citizens.
From 6.30am to 6.45am: heads of diplomatic missions; from 6.45am to 7am: armed forces, police officers and directors of national departments and institutions.
Immediately after Asr (afternoon) prayers until 4.15pm, the Emir will receive sheikhs
and citizens.
Qatari designs double-decker vehicle
Qatari inventor Jassim Abdulla al-Khanji, a member of Qatar Scientific Club, has come up with a design for a double-decker family vehicle, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported. The car has seats at two levels -- upper and lower -- and is inspired by double-decker buses, according to al-Khanji.
QIB announces work timings at branches
Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) has announced operating hours of its branches at The Gate Mall, Dar Al Salam Mall and City Center Doha, as part of its campaign to ensure uninterrupted services for QIB customers. The bank said the three branches will open, starting in the evening of the second day of Eid al-Fitr from 4pm till 8pm, and other Eid days from 9am to 2.30pm. After the Eid holidays, the three branches will resume regular opening hours during morning and evening shifts as follows: Saturday until Thursday from 9am to 2.30pm and from 3.30pm to 9pm, and Friday from 4pm to 9 pm. QIB e-channels will also be available 24/7 through Internet banking as well as QIB mobile banking application, call centre and 165 ATMs spread across the country. “The management affirms that the ultimate objective is to provide a convenient banking experience for clients through the three branches and the 24/7 alternative channels,” QIB said.
Maid sentenced to 1 year jail for stealing mobile
An Indonesian maid has been convicted of stealing the mobile phone of her employer’s son, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.
A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced the maid to one year in jail, which remains suspended over three years, according to the report.
The employer reported the matter to the police after discovering that the phone was missing and the maid was also absconding. Eventually, the maid was arrested and charged with theft.
Hot day, strong winds forecast
It will be hot during the day along with slightly dusty conditions at some places today, the Met department has said.
Strong winds and high seas towards the north in the afternoon are also forecast in offshore areas.The temperature will range from 31 degrees Celsius to 46 degrees in the country, with Abu Samra expected to be the hottest. In Doha, the minimum and maximum temperatures forecast are 34 and 45 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Toyota FJ Cruiser vehicles recalled
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has announced a free recall campaign for Toyota FJ Cruiser vehicles made in 2013 due to a manufacturer’s defect in the steering shaft.
The campaign is being jointly conducted with Abdullah Abdulghani & Bros Co, the authorised distributor of Toyota vehicles in Qatar.
