A Doha Criminal Court has ordered a Filipina expatriate to pay a fine of QR10,000 for fatally knocking down a four-year-old Pakistani child with her vehicle, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported. The woman has also been directed, along with the insurance company concerned, to pay QR200,000 as blood money to the kin of the child. The Public Prosecution had accused the woman of careless driving, which caused severe injuries to the victim and eventually led to his death. The woman was driving in a residential area when she ran over the child and stopped to see what had happened, according to eyewitnesses. While she denied that she was responsible for the accident and had stopped to help the child, witnesses testified that they had seen her car hitting the four-year-old. The victim’s father, who was at work when the accident took place, rushed to the emergency section of a hospital on being informed about the accident. However, the child was already dead by the time he arrived.
