HE the Foreign Minister Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah holding talks with President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq Masoud Barzani in Arbil yesterday.

Qatar has provided humanitarian assistance to the displaced persons and refugees in the Kurdistan region of Iraq to alleviate their suffering, as per the directives of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
This came during the official visit by HE the Foreign Minister Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah to the Kurdistan region yesterday.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE Dr al-Attiyah stressed that the provision of humanitarian assistance comes as part of  Qatar’s continuing efforts to support those affected by the tragic situation in countries such as Syria and Iraq. He pointed out that the support was extended in co-ordination and supervision of the official authorities in Arbil.
HE Dr al-Attiyah expressed his hope that this support would contribute to alleviating the suffering of displaced persons and refugees in Iraq, while reiterating his wishes for lasting security and stability.
Meanwhile, President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq Masoud Barzani met Foreign Minister Dr al-Attiyah yesterday.
Talks during the meeting focused on relations between Qatar and Kurdistan region and ways of further enhancing them, in addition to issues of common interest.
The Foreign Minister affirmed Qatar’s keenness to strengthen co-operation and further develop bilateral relations, notably in economic and investment sectors, wishing stability, growth and prosperity for the Kurdistan region.
They reviewed the situation of the Iraqi displaced persons and Syrian refugees in Arbil.
President  Barzani thanked the government and people of Qatar for their support to Kurdistan region, wishing further development and prosperity in their bilateral relations.
