The under-construction Tawar Mall, located opposite to the Dahl Al Hamam Park in Al Duhail, will be operational from the last quarter of 2016, officials announced on Wednesday.
"The ultra-modern Tawar Mall will offer some unique experiences to customers," general manager Pedro Ribeiro told a press conference. The logo of the mall was also revealed at the event.
“Tawar Mall will have 272 retail units with over 90,000sqm leasable area," he explained. It will have four floors and two basements. There will be a four-star boutique hotel with 122 rooms and a 6,201sqm hypermarket. There will also be a car showroom, a cinema with 12 screens and a kids area. In addition, there will be many fine dining restaurants.
Ribeiro hinted there will be additional parking lots after the construction is completed. “At present there will be parking facilities for about 2700 vehicles. The land behind the mall belongs to the Tawar family and we will be able to provide a total of 6,000 car parking lots later.”
The official stated that the mall aims for a seven-day concept. “Generally every mall will have large crowds at the weekends. But we are focusing on a seven-day project that will result in large crowds on all days of the week. The mall expects to have 200,000 footfalls per week.”
Jassim bin Jabir Tawar al-Kuwari, owner of Tawar Mall, said that the mall’s new team is creating a truly breathtaking vision of modern shopping experience and the work of the mall is progressing at a quick pace. He also pointed out that its location promises to establish Tawar Mall as a prime meeting point in Doha.
The officials of the mall also said that the leasing process of the facility has begun, attracting a vast selection of the world’s most distinguished brands.
They maintained that the project has entered the culmination of its development, with the construction, testing and commissioning all in their final stages.
According to the officials, the mall is expected to become a diverse social hub with a variety of tastes from around the world.
