Civil Defence (General Administration) Director General and Staff Brigadier Abdullah al-Suwaidi has said the 5th Civil Defence Exhibition and Conference starting today at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC) is one of the major events of its kind to be held at the GCC level.
This is the first event to be held at the newly built DECC, located next to the City Center Doha.
Staff Brig al-Suwaidi said a number of international companies working in the field of civil safety, security and protection are taking part in the three-day expo, which would feature the showcasing of a considerably large number of equipment, machinery, tools and advanced technology.
He said this year’s exhibition will have the participation of about 97 local, regional and global companies, representing 1,250 global manufacturers and institutions from the field of safety and protection.
Brigadier al-Suwaidi said the conference to be held alongside will deal with some of the key issues at the global level including sustainable development and disaster reduction.
General Administration Assistant Director General Brigadier Aman Saad al-Sulaiti said the exhibition and conference are a continuation of the objectives set since their inception in 2007 to create a forum to contribute to raising the level of awareness of safety measures among all segments of society.
Al-Sulaiti said the exhibition and conference have earned a good reputation at all levels and it embodied the constructive and fruitful co-operation between different state authorities and institutions.
Organising committee vice chairman Abdul Latif Al Mahmoud said the exhibition and conference have come a long way to reach the present level with the support of the State officials, especially the committee headed by Brigadier al-Suwaidi.
