HE the Transport Minister Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti and other dignitaries at the UDC pavilion at the Civil Defence Exhibition yesterday.

 

The United Development Company (UDC), one of the leading Qatari shareholding companies and master developer of The Pearl-Qatar, is participating in the 5th Civil Defence Exhibition and Conference as platinum sponsor.
The event, held under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, is running until tomorrow at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Displayed at the UDC stand at the exhibition are the latest technology solutions used in safety and construction, particularly at the company’s construction sites in The Pearl-Qatar, and a number of senior state officials and personalities visiting the company’s stand were briefed on the company’s experiences in this field.
“The safety and protection of our residents, our infrastructure, and our community is our priority,” UDC president and CEO Ibrahim al-Othman said, while speaking specifically about The Pearl-Qatar. “As a socially responsible corporate citizen we are delighted to contribute to this important exhibition, which highlights the progress we have already made. The event allows us to network and meet with other individuals and organisations, and to discover new ways, methods and technologies that will improve safety standards for everyone.”
He further added: “We are also in total co-operation with The General Directorate of Civil Defence to ensure that all contractors operating on the Island comply with the set regulations for construction in Qatar, and that they receive fire safety and other necessary clearances.”
The Pearl-Qatar facilities and common areas are equipped with the latest firefighting technology, particularly for water-bound environments. Everything from safely working at dangerous heights, safe use of machinery and wearing the correct personal protective equipment and clothing is strictly required and followed. Even the daily temperatures during summer are monitored to ensure workers operate within the legal safety limits.
All health and safety issues of the residents are equally catered to through a highly-trained and experienced health and safety team using some of the most sophisticated technology available to guarantee the safety and security of visitors and residents.
In order to secure the 35km coastline of The Pearl-Qatar, high-tech and high-speed boats, state-of-the-art technology and navigation systems combine with the Qatari Coastguard to provide the best response to sea searches, risk operations, and emergency cases.
