Qatar Fuel (Woqod) has opened its 30th service station in line with its commitment to meet the fuel and energy needs of Qatar, and as part of the company’s expansion plans to grow its network of service stations locally.
The new service station, in Doha’s Al Rayyan area, was inaugurated on Sunday by Woqod CEO engineer Ibrahim Jaham al-Kuwari, in the presence of senior management team, in addition to distinguished guests from Qatar’s business sectors.
The QR20mn fuel station, spread over 6,000sqm with six lanes, will serve the neighbourhoods of New Rayyan, Rayyan, Wajba, the Gharrafa area and the Qatar Foundation community.
The station will offer round-the-clock services, including Sidra convenience store, Kenar shops and sale of LPG cylinders.
“The opening of the new fuel station reflects our ambitious plans to expand our network and accessibility within Qatar, in order to cater to the growing needs from the local market and ensure that high quality products and services are available to all our customers at their convenience across the country,” al-Kuwari said.
A total of seven service stations have been opened by Woqod this year with outlets at Al Rayyan, Bin Derham, Al Lagthafiya, Al Wakra, Wajba, Al Thakhira and Lijimiliya.
Woqod plans to have three new centres for vehicle inspection (Fahes) at Shahabiya, Al Wukair and Al Khor by early next year.
Woqod’s expansion strategy seeks to increase the number of service stations operated by the company to 100 by 2020 given land availability.
Other projects are under construction or in tendering stages and will be opened in 2016.
