Alfardan Automobiles, the official BMW Group importer in Qatar, has announced the arrival of the all-new BMW X1 to its showrooms across Qatar with a starting price of QR155,000.
With more than 730,000 units of the first generation sold world-wide, the second generation X1 comes with a body design straight out of the BMW X model mould. There is significantly more space for passengers and luggage, a cutting-edge premium ambience and functionality grounded in solid engineering.
Latest four-cylinder engines, an efficiency-optimised version of the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system and newly developed chassis technology enhances the sporting ability and ride comfort. Fuel consumption and emissions are reduced by up to 17%, model-on-model. The X1 is available for the first time with
front-wheel-drive.
Among the items on the options list are full-LED headlights, Dynamic Damper Control, the BMW Head-Up Display and the Driving Assistant Plus system. The new X1 is 53mm taller. The raised seating position optimises the driver’s view out over the road.
The 505-litre boot capacity is 85-litre larger than its predecessor. Folding down the standard-fitted 40:20:40 rear seat backrest allows load capacity to be expanded to as much as 1,550 litres.
Standard equipment includes air conditioning, an audio system with USB and AUX-in sockets, and the iDrive operating system, whose 6.5-inch display is integrated into the instrument panel in freestanding monitor form. The available xLine and M Sport packages facilitate targeted
individualisation.
The all-new selection of engines and drive variants include: X1 sDrive20i: 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 141 kW/192 hp, 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds, 5.9–6.0 l/100 km, 136–139 g/km CO2 and X1 xDrive25i: 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 170 kW/231 hp, 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds, 6.4–6.6 l/100 km, 149–152 g/km CO2.
The engines link up with either a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed Steptronic unit, both new. The xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system also takes its place in the new BMW X1 in a further developed form.
A material mix combining high-strength steel and lightweight aluminium minimises weight. The bonnet, bumpers and many chassis components are made of aluminium. Additional features include the Automatic Start/Stop function, ECO PRO mode or the optimised manual and automatic transmissions, which allow early upshifts without loss of ride comfort.
A new addition to the range of BMW ConnectedDrive features is a BMW Head-Up Display which, as in the larger BMW X models, projects driving-related information directly onto the windscreen. The X1 can now also be specified with the Driving Assistant Plus line-up of the Active Cruise Control system with Stop & Go function, Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Jam Assistant, Collision Warning and Pedestrian Warning with City Braking function.
