Qatar’s Mohamed Sabri claimed the men’s 10m air rifle gold medal in the Qatar Cup Shooting Championship 2016 at Lusail International Shooting Complex.
Abdullah Sunaidi finished second while Ali al-Mohannadi claimed the bronze. Sabri scored 203.5 points, while Sunaidi scored 202.9.
“It was a tough competition and the final results show that. I am happy with my performance,” Sabri said after emerging the champion.
In the junior section of the event Mohamed al-Mubarak took the gold medal with a final score of 118.6. Mohasin Ali al-Ahmed and Gamal Fahad al-Muraqab occupied the second and third places respectively.
“It was one of the most challenging tournaments I have ever participated. My aim is the senior category medals and for that I am trying best,” Al-Mubarak said.
The event is being held in preparation for the Asian Shooting Championship to be staged in New Delhi from January 25 to February 6, 2016, which will serve as a qualification event for the Rio Olympic Games.
