Qatar Airways Cargo receives India award
Qatar Airways Cargo recently received the International Award for Excellence in Air Cargo at the Air Cargo India 2016 exhibition and conference, hosted by STAT Times. Readers of STAT Times, the monthly publication covering transport and tourism news, rated Qatar Airways Cargo 'highly acclaimed' in the International Air Cargo Airline of the Year category, a significant recognition of Qatar Airways Cargo’s emerging industry leadership position.
Recent customer innovations introduced by Qatar Airways Cargo include CROAMIS, an end-to-end and comprehensive air cargo automation system that allows shippers and forwarders full visibility of the transportation ribbon, which provides the latest information and real-time status of their cargo. The world’s third-largest air cargo carrier has also fully adopted the electronic air waybill, which makes the shipping process more streamlined and efficient. In addition, Qatar Airways Cargo continues to expand its network of offerings, now serving more than 50 dedicated cargo destinations.
Qatar Airways Chief Officer Cargo, Mr. Ulrich Ogiermann said: “We appreciate the recognition for serving our cargo customers so well. Qatar Airways Cargo is emerging as a leader in the air cargo world, expanding its network and offering new products and services our customers want and need. We are investing in the infrastructure at Hamad International Airport to support further growth, including a new cargo terminal that will be able to handle 4.4 million tonnes of cargo per year, and we look forward to expanding our influence in global airfreight.”
Qatar Airways Cargo operates a dedicated fleet of eight Airbus A330Fs, eight Boeing 777 freighters and one Boeing 747 nose loader freighter. In addition, Qatar Airways Cargo utilises the cargo belly-hold space on Qatar Airways’ passenger flights.
Qatar Airways launched freighter services to Budapest, Prague and Ho Chi Minh on 3 March 2016. Belly-hold cargo capacity will also be provided on the recently launched passenger route to Sydney, and on the up and coming services to Boston and Birmingham launching this month.
Qatar Airways Cargo recently expanded its portfolio of services with the introduction of QR Express and QR Equine. The two new dedicated product lines ensure that the special needs of each customer are fully met throughout the transport experience. QR Express provides clients with the opportunity to book shipments with high boarding priority and rapid handling at origin and destination. With QR Equine our team of specialists ensure that horses experience Qatar Airways’ globally renowned service and comfort.
Qatar Airways Cargo offers other customer products, including QR Fresh and QR Pharma, for the handling and transportation of temperature controlled goods such as perishable products and delicate pharmaceuticals, and QR On-Board Courier, for smaller packages that require immediate care and attention from a dedicated handler.
