Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Health Profession Awareness and Volunteering Programmes team recently announced the winners of its health website design contest, organised for students.
A total of 140 students representing 17 independent schools for boys took part in the contest. Awards were presented to five winning schools by Hamad Nasser al-Khalifa, head of Health Facilities Development,HMC.
The first place winner was Jassim Bin Hamad Independent Secondary School for Boys, while Ibn Khaldoun Preparatory Independent School for Boys, Ahmed Bin Hanbal Secondary School for Boys, Abdulrahman Bin Jassim Preparatory Independent School for Boys and Saad Bin Maaz Elementary School for Boys won the second, third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.
All the winners received cash prizes as well as volunteer certificates for putting in 25 hours into the contest.
Balqees al-Khazraji, director, Health Profession Awareness and Volunteering Programmes, of HMC, explained that the contest was organised in co-operation with Khalifa Secondary School for Boys under the slogan “Strengthening Students’ Health is an Investment for the Future”.
“The competition was aimed at promoting healthy living among the students through raising awareness of the most prevalent diseases in Qatar, their prevention, and how to deliver positive health messages in the best way to achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030,” she said.
She explained further that the contest was organised to challenge the students to show creativity by designing health websites using colours, images, video and easy to navigate pages, highlighting topical health issues such as diabetes, obesity, asthma, tuberculosis, dental diseases and heart diseases, among other health problems.
