Mosafer, the international travel lifestyle store founded by Abu Issa Holding chairman Ashraf Abu Issa, has celebrated the launch of the ‘World’s First Smart Luggage,’ Bluesmart, at the luxury department store Blue Salon.
Bluesmart is to be distributed exclusively at Mosafer stores and Points of Sale across the region, in the newest New York flagship and online at www.mosafer.com with delivery to over 20 countries.
This is the latest addition to the Mosafer travel lifestyle concept, which currently sells over 60 luggage and travel accessories brands, and is the first in Mosafer’s new focus on travel innovation brands.
Bluesmart was founded by a group of seasoned entrepreneurs, designers and engineers who encountered several problems with their luggage while travelling internationally and decided to partner to develop the world’s first smart luggage.
With a founding team that includes a PhD in aerospace engineering who worked with Nasa, MIT students and entrepreneurs with expertise in travel software, design and manufacturing, the company introduced the world’s first smart connected carry-on luggage and was awarded as “Most Innovative Product & Service of 2014” by Forbes.
The company is headquartered in San Francisco, California.
The result of this collaboration is a first-of-its-kind, lightweight, durable, water- and scratch-resistant suitcase that has many unique features, such as GPS+3G real-time tracking worldwide in partnership with Telefonica, remote digital lock accepted by the TSA, two USB chargers with 10,000 mAh capacity - enough to charge an iPhone six times, built-in weight sensors inform via app whether suitcase is within airline limits, and a Bluesmart app that delivers proximity alerts and travel itinerary and reports.
