A Doha-based forum for Filipino electrical engineers, Integrated International Electrical Engineers (IIEE) Qatar Chapter is all set to host the 4th Annual Middle East Conference in Doha this month.
In a recent press meet, IIEE Regional Interim Governor Engineer Robert U Mabulay announced that the conference will take place on the 8th and 9th of July, with 70 delegates from chapters in Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) expected to attend the annual event.
“[A total of] 280 participants have already confirmed their registrations till date, including around 200 IIEE members locally from Qatar,” said Mabulay. He added that IIEE National President Lary Cruz and Board of Electrical Engineering members from Philippines, Francis Mapile and Jaime Mendoza will attend.
Wilfredo Santos, the Ambassador of Philippines to Qatar, will also attend the conference.
The Middle East Governor of IIEE said the purpose of these conferences is to enhance the capabilities of Filipino engineers globally.
“Such conferences provide an opportunity to exchange and discuss the various issues and challenges faced by engineers from various parts of the region as well as to enhance their professional capabilities to compete at a global level,” said the governor.
Edgardo E Estebal, president of the host chapter, added that they are “proud to host the conference the second time in Middle East.” The first one was held in Doha in 2013.
He thanked the sponsors, including Light House, Life Craft and Pacific Ocean, for supporting the conference. The press conference was attended by IIEE-SQC board members, past presidents and advisers.
The IIEE-SQC was founded in November 2005 by 35 founding council core members and accredited as a Foreign Chapter by IIEE-National Office in Manila and the Philippine Embassy in Qatar in December 2005.
IIEE-SQC is a professional organisation of electrical engineers in Qatar whose objective and purpose is aligned with the Continuing Professional Education programme of the Philippine Regulation Commission (PRC) and assists in the socio-civic activities of the Philippine embassy in Qatar.
The organisation aims to be the leading electrical professional organisation globally with the objective to enhance the competencies of electrical engineering practitioners to make positive contribution towards new trends and technologies.
IIEE-SQC also intends to become an authority of electrical engineering services that result in safe, reliable and efficient systems and to consistently deliver high quality products and services duly recognised by international organisations and institutions.
The organisation aims to promote awareness on the use of environmentally-friendly electrical products, services and resources as well as active participation on disaster preparedness and recovery programmes.
In their mission objectives, they aim to unite all Filipino migrant electrical practitioners who are presently working in Qatar into one dynamic chapter of IIEE.
It regularly updates the chapter members on the recent developments of the institute in the Philippines and endeavours to establish a direct link and co-operation between chapter members and other international societies relevant to the profession.
IIEE-SQC also facilitates the exchange of technical information, knowledge, ideas and experience for the benefit of electrical engineering industry in particular and the whole of Philippines in general. It equips fellow electrical practitioners with necessary advance training in supervisory and managerial skills through management seminars conducted by prominent and world-known resources speakers in management.
