Alumni association to hold global meeting

The alumni of the NSS College of Engineering in Palakkad, Kerala, will hold a global meeting in Palakkad on July 30 and 31. "Old students working in different parts of the world will participate, exchange nostalgic 'once-upon-a-time' stories and share real life experience," a spokesman of the alumni association said in Doha on Sunday.The inauguration and general sessions will be held at Hotel Tripenda at Malampuzha, a resort near Palakkad, followed by technical sessions on the college campus.A campus tour and various entertainment programmes have been arranged for alumni members and their families."The event will provide a great opportunity for current students to learn and plan their career paths," said the spokesman.The NSS College of Engineering in Palakkad is one of the premier higher educational institutions in Kerala.Founded in 1960 by the Nair Service Society under the leadership of Mannathu Padmanabhan during the Second Five-Year Plan with the aid of central and state governments, the college is highly rated by education experts. It is located in a scenic setting, near the foothills of the Western Ghats in Palakkad.The institution has a legacy of grooming brilliant engineering professionals who later made their mark in industrial and other sectors in India and abroad.The alumnus in Qatar under the chapter Anecx-Qatar has more than 200 members, many of them holding key positions and contributing towards the growth of the country.They have organised various technical sessions for the benefit of engineers, personality development programmes for students, robotic shows, inter-school sports quiz competitions and volleyball tournaments.Every year, the Qatar chapter disburses endowment scholarship for eligible students recommended by the institution. The spokesman called on all alumni members in Qatar to attend the global meeting. "It will be a memorable event for the college's former students," he said.
