The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that it will replace the signalised junction that connects Al Qalaa Street with Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street with a temporary roundabout and divert traffic.
The diversion will start tomorrow and last for six months, in co-ordination with the Traffic Police Department.
During the above-mentioned period, road users travelling north on Al Qalaa Street will be diverted on to a 300m-long parallel road towards the newly installed roundabout. At the roundabout, road users can exit right on to Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street heading towards Doha, or left to head in the direction of Bani Hajer.
In a press statement yesterday, Ashghal said the diversion is required to facilitate necessary utility works as part of the first phase of its Al Rayyan road upgrade project.
The authority will install road signs advising motorists of the diversion. It has requested all road users to abide by the reduced 50kmph speed limit and follow road signs to ensure their safety.
