The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has been honoured as one of the best employers in the Gulf region in the area of human resources (HR) development.
The recognition came during the third edition of the 2016 GCC Best Employer Brand Awards, which was held in Dubai recently.
Employer Branding Institute organised the awards ceremony in collaboration with CHRO Asia, strategic partner for the event.
The award was received by Saif Ali al-Kaabi, manager of the Human Resources Department at Ashghal, in recognition of the development of HR policies and practices over the past five years, making it “a unique place to work”.
The winners were selected based on a number of factors, focusing on their commitment to a framework that provides a role model for learning and development initiatives. The framework excels in applying recruitment best practices, training, employee retention and works towards continuous innovation. It also enables employees to improve their performance, attract new employees and ensure retention, in line with business growth and building a global workforce culture.
An expert panel of judges comprising HR consultants from GCC countries chose the winners from a list of 100 government and semi-government agencies and private companies.
In a press statement, Ashghal has stressed that it continues with its efforts to support distinctive and creative workforce initiatives with regard to attracting and retaining employees, and always seeks to be a key player in workforce recruitment in Qatar and the GCC.
Over the past years, the authority has “been a career ambition for many professionals and engineers because of the authority’s job stability, attractive privileges, employees’ training and development programmes as well as its large-scale projects”. These have enabled Ashghal to be awarded as one of the best employers in the GCC.
