Qatar takes part in Manama Dialogue

Qatar took part yesterday in the opening session of the 12th edition of Manama Dialogue, held in Bahrain, with a delegation headed by Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry Dr Ahmed bin Hassan al-Hammadi.The three-day event serves as an annual platform to exchange views on security challenges, bringing together a number of officials, businessmen, international figures, economists, politicians and strategic thinkers from Asia, Africa, North America, Latin America and Europe.This year’s edition held under the patronage of Prince Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifah, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain will discuss competition, conflict and peace in the Middle East.Call for concrete action to protect human rightsThe National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Secretary General Maryam bint Abdullah al-Attiyah has called for concrete national, regional and global action to strengthen principles of international legitimacy of the human rights.In a speech on the occasion of the Human Rights Day, which falls on December 10 each year, the NHRC Secretary General said that the importance of human rights stems from Islamic religion, which are universal, and indivisible. She added that the Qatari Constitution and national legislation consolidate these rights, stressing that Qatar spares no effort under the wise leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani in maintaining, respecting and promoting these rights.DiplomacyDirector of the Department of Protocol of the Greece Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aglaia Balta has received a copy of the credentials of Qatar’s ambassador Abdulaziz Ali al-Nema to Greece. The Director of Protocol Department wished ambassador al-Nema success in his mission and the relations between Qatar and Greece further growth. Ambassador al-Nema stressed his desire to work to promote bilateral relations between  Qatar and Greece.Death noticeMaryam bint Khalifa bin Abdullah al-Attiyah, wife of Mohamed bin Abdullah bin Nasser al-Attiyah, passed away at the age of 70. The deceased was the sister of Abdullah bin Khalifa al-Attiyah, Mohamed bin Khalifa al-Attiyah, Hamad bin Khalifa al-Attiyah, Abdulaziz bin Khalifa al-Attiyah, Khalid bin Khalifa al-Attiyah, Nasser bin Khalifa al-Attiyah, Ahmed bin Khalifa al-Attiyah and Khalifa bin Khalifa al-Attiyah. The funeral prayers will be performed after the Asr prayer at Nasser bin Abdullah Al Attiyah Mosque in the Al Kharaitiyat area. The burial will be in Al Kharaitiyat Cemetery. Condolences from mourners will be received at Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Attiyah’s Majlis in the Al Kheessa area.
