Nazia Tabasum to lead a 14-player Qatar team in the UAE International Women’s T20 Cup, which is scheduled to start today in Sharjah.
The other Qatar team members are Ayesha Mohamed, Nahan Arif, Rizpha Bano, Khadija Imtiaz, Shahreen Nawab, Sharon Nalini, Kerry Pounsett, Sreeja Krishnama, Ambika Periaswamy, Divi Mishra, Vinola De Souza, Hiral Agarwal and Zainab Ameesha.
Gul Khan Jadoon is the head of delegation, Mariam Khan is the team manager, Shivani Mishra is the coach, while Noureen Javaid will accompany the team as physio.
Other participating teams are Malaysia, the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Uganda and Kenya. The seven teams have been split into two groups. Qatar, Kenya, Malaysia and the UAE have been placed in the Group A, while the Group B consists of Kuwait, Oman and Uganda.
Qatar will play first match against Kenya today, while their second match is against Malaysia in Ajman tomorrow and after a day’s rest, they will conclude their group engagements with a clash against the hosts UAE in Sharjah on December 17.
Two top teams from each group will clash for two berths in the final after cross semi-final on December 18.
Sharjah has been chosen as the venue for the final on December 19.
Before the send-off of the team, QCA president MA Shahid and QCA general secretary Manzoor Ahmad and other QCA Officials wished them good luck.
