The mercury level will continue to drop in the country until the end of this week, with windy conditions adding to the chill factor, the Qatar Met department has said.
The weather office has also issued a warning for strong winds and high seas until tomorrow evening. According to a report issued by the Met department, temperatures are likely to dip by 4-5C during this period as compared to what was recorded over the past few days.
The maximum temperature will range between 18C and 21C and the minimum between 12C and 14C in Doha, and drop below 10C in the external areas and southern parts of Qatar. These conditions are likely to continue until tomorrow, with strong northwesterly winds adding to the chill factor, the report states.
Meanwhile, today’s detailed forecast says strong winds are expected in parts of the country. Mild daytime conditions have been forecast along with slight to blowing dust in some places at times, and it will be cold by night.
Offshore areas, too, are likely to see strong winds and high seas today. Northwesterly winds will blow at 10-20 knots in inshore areas, going up to 25 knots in some places at times. The wind speed in offshore areas will be 15-25 knots, (northwesterly), reaching a high of 28 knots. The sea level, meanwhile, may rise to 9ft at times.
In a post on social media yesterday, the Met department said sea warnings for strong northwesterly winds and high waves would remain in place until tomorrow evening. The wind speed will increase gradually and the sea level is expected to rise to 9ft, according to the weather office.
The Met department has urged people to avoid going into the sea during this period in view of the expected conditions.
