Qatar Fund for Development (QFD) has signed a one-year grant agreement to support PACES Foundation in training 6,220 children in the age group of 7 to 16 years in the refugee camps and most marginalised areas in Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon.
The grant aims to support the activities of the Foundation in areas such as health, hygiene, sports programmes and awareness courses for children.
The grant agreement was signed by QFD Director General Khalifa bin Jassim al-Kuwari and PACES Foundation chairman Hani Qattan.
In a statement yesterday, QFD said that the programme aims to enhance life skills for children through sports programmes and educational activities.
It also focuses on capacity-building of trainers, enhancing their skills and expanding their participation in their communities through various
programmes.
The programme also helps in improving the capacity of local partners by providing advanced courses on financial management and project management as well as by providing equal opportunities for both sexes in sports.
The QFD director general said that the Fund attaches great importance to help Palestinian children in Palestine and in neighbouring countries and has continued to provide help to encourage participation and take advantage of training and development opportunities in all walks of life in general and in the field of health and hygiene in particular.
Qattan said that the partnership reflects the shared vision of the two parties and their commitment to improving the standards of living and well-being of the marginalised Palestinian communities, adding that PACES Foundation is working to reach out to the greatest possible number of children and trainers in Palestine, Jordan and
Lebanon.
