The Ministry of Municipality and Environment’s (MME) Public Cleaning Department, in co-operation with Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality and Al Shamal Security Department, has removed around 100 tonnes of windswept sand accumulated on the main road at Ras Laffan and the public road at Al Thakhira to ensure smooth traffic.
Al Wakrah Municipality’s Health Control Section conducted 3,080 field inspection tours in 2016, covering 17,582 food facilities. These resulted in issuing 582 instant violation reports, in addition to other 636 related violations. The amount of collected fines amounted to QR1,840,800.
During the same period, the section received 129 related complaints, which were immediately addressed. In addition, 133 pledges were taken by the shop owners to remove the violations spotted at their shops. The section also destroyed 10,770 of foodstuff unfit for human consumption, and sent 73 food samples to the central laboratory to check the validity of food products.
MME Public Gardens Department has organised a number of visits to some public gardens for students of certain private schools in the country.
