The Court of Misdemeanour has sentenced two expatriate Arab men to three years in jail and subsequent deportation for duping a Qatari man of $61,000.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported that the court convicted the duo of presenting the victim with false information and misappropriating his money through fraudulent means. The victim filed a case against the defendants who claimed to be selling an apartment in another country during a real estate exhibition by introducing themselves as the company owner and a sales representative. Accordingly, they conducted a deal with him and sold him two apartments for $61,000. However, when the victim demanded the delivery of the apartments, they kept on devising false excuses to postpone the process.
