The Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press (HBKU Press) will showcase several new fiction, non-fiction and children’s titles at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, which opened yesterday.
“The titles reflect our mission to empower local talent and by focusing on the ingenuity of the Qatari and Arab population,” said Fakhri Saleh, head of Arabic Publishing at HBKU Press.
Among the titles is the new work by Qatari author Muneera Saad al-Romaihi, who follows up her successful debut children’s book, Manal’s World, with the personally inspired story of Angry Majid.
Another newly-released tale of Qatari heritage, written by Qatari author Kaltham Ali al-Ghanim and beautifully illustrated by Ibtihaj al-Harthi, is Ghosoun and Her Brother the Gazelle.
Among the other titles are the award-winning translator Saleh Almani’s latest translated work Games of the Late Age, written by Spanish author Luis Landero, and non-fiction titles Poor Economics, translated by Anwar al-Shamy, and Science and Islam, written by Ehsan Masood and translated by Ayham al-Sabbagh.
The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair runs until May 2.
