Qatar residents can provide recommendations on the upcoming Qatar Public Health Strategy 2017-2022. They can take part in the Qatar Public Health Strategy Consultation launched by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).
MoPH will formally launch the Qatar Public Health Strategy 2017-2022 later this year.
The launch of the Public Health Survey 2017 marks the start of an online health survey to seek residents’ opinions on health issues, with the feedback to be used to shape the national strategy.
The consultation is a first-of-its-kind survey inviting feedback on public health issues in Qatar.
MoPH has called on all residents to take part in the survey and answer 16 questions which will enable the authorities to shape the right health strategy for the period 2017-2022.
Disclosing the details of the survey at a special event on Sunday, Dr Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad al-Thani, director of Public Health at the Ministry of Public Health said, “We are seeking the public opinion as we always respect and follow a democratic process. There are 16 questions in the survey and I encourage all to take part in the survey so that the next health strategy addresses all the issues.”

HE the Minister of Public Health, Dr Hanan Mohamed al-Kuwari, and several other dignitaries were also present at the event at Qatar National Convention Centre on Sunday. The presentations were followed by a panel discussion.
“By inviting feedback through the public health survey, we will be able to ensure the strategy aligns with the wishes of the very people it aims to help. I encourage all residents of Qatar to answer the survey questions and play their part in developing a strategy that will improve the health of our great country,” said Dr al-Kuwari.
“The Qatar Public Health Strategy is a six-year plan with the potential to make a real positive difference to the lives of the people of Qatar. Through the survey we will receive in-depth information on what people want, and need, in relation to public health – we will then study and utilise this feedback to ensure that the final strategy is robust and fit for purpose,” said Sheikh Mohamed.
“The strategy’s objectives address 16 key health areas including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, road safety, occupational health and tobacco cessation. Public health is about creating the environment and conditions to improve the health and well being of our population. Increasing public understanding of health, ensuring air quality is of the highest standard, establishing more screening clinics to monitor people’s health and providing more support for people who wish to lead healthier lifestyles are all ways in which the Qatar Public Health Strategy will aim to improve the health of Qatar’s residents,” explained Sheikh Mohamed.
Egbert Schillings, CEO of World innovation Summit for Health, said that non-communicable diseases are the serious health issues in Qatar and other countries in the world.
“This initiative of collecting the opinion of the public shows that Qatar is really committed to the health of its population. This is a great commitment and it is an opportunity for the public to take part in the process to contribute to the well being of the population and the upcoming generations.” he noted.
