Nepal police yesterday arrested six Chinese nationals for carrying foreign currencies in excess of the permissible limit and seized the money worth Rs47mn from a highway entry point to the Kathmandu Valley. The Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) arrested the Chinese nationals with $4.9mn; 14,400 Chinese Yuan; ¥3.1mn; 2,200 Swiss Franc; A$1,400; £1,100; and Rs24,600 from their possession. According to Superintendent of Police Prakash Jung Karki, the Chinese nationals were arrested from a vehicle while they were heading to Tibet. Police have not disclosed the identities of those arrested.
