Qatar's population has touched 2.7mn mark for the first time, according to information provided by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) on Thursday.
As per the latest figures, the population went up by nearly 0.9%, compared to the April figure of 2,675,522.
At the end of May 31, 2016, the country had approximately 2,587,000 residents, which was 28,000 more than the previous month's 2,559,000.
From the end of this month, the population is likely to fall until the end of September as a considerable number of expatriates would travel on vacation.
Schools are closing later this month and a large number of residents would be travelling, starting from the third week of this month.
Last year, almost 110,000 residents travelled out of the country during June on vacation, according to the MDPS statistics.
