Porsche Club Qatar (PCQ) has announced the launch of its ‘Tour of Germany’ in celebration of the Qatar Germany 2017 Year of Culture.
The tour has been organised in collaboration with the Qatari embassy in Berlin and the German mission in Doha.
During the tour, participants will take part in a five-day trip to explore many of Germany’s most famous cultural landmarks and attractions, helping promote cultural awareness and exchange between the two countries.
PCQ is fully managed and run by Porsche owners who have committed their time and energy to establish and register it as part of the Porsche Clubs Network worldwide.
According to PCQ president Khaled al-Remithi, the custom-made ‘Tour of Germany’ – taking place from today until July 8 – will feature club members and social media influencers.
The initiative reflects the “club’s commitment towards creating a regular series of engaging activities and events for members of the community, and building widespread appreciation for important national initiatives”, a press statement said.
The Qatar Germany 2017 Year of Culture is initiated by Qatar Museums in partnership with the Goethe-Institut Gulf Region, German embassy in Qatar and Qatari embassy in Germany. The initiative aims to strengthen existing ties between both countries through mutual exchange of arts, culture and sport, and to promote dialogue, mutual understanding, recognition and appreciation between the two countries.
Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, Qatar’s ambassador to Berlin, said: “Cultural exchange is the main component of the Year of Culture programme. We believe tours, such as the one PCQ is embarking on, help in raising awareness and starting dialogue. We are very happy to support Qatar’s youth with such constructive endeavours.”
Mohamed al-Othman, Public and International Relations director at Qatar Museums, said: “Porsche Club Qatar’s ‘Tour of Germany’ perfectly exemplifies the diversity and variety that makes up the Qatar Germany 2017 Year of Culture.
It is precisely through events such as these that we’re able to promote cultural understanding and appreciation between Qatar and Germany. We’re delighted to see members of the community embrace all that the Year of Culture stands for and to contribute to strengthening the existing ties between our two countries.”
Porsche Club Qatar has joined hands with Porsche Clubs Worldwide to further promote the Qatar Germany 2017 Year of Culture across its network of more than 220,000 members around the world.
The bilateral Years of Culture initiative was launched in 2012 under the guidance of Qatar Museums’ chairperson, HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.
